Wines and Service
Variety of wines at a reasonable price. Cheerful and efficient service.
The best time to go
The months of November and December are when the salt mines are at an important stage of the production process. The reflection of the salt shines on the windows of the restaurant.
The Mirador Las Salinas is the perfect place to admire the powerful landscape of the Janubio salt mines. It is like being on a balcony and taking in the precise details of the traditional construction. The decoration is inspired by the marine surroundings with comfortable furniture and the sounds of lively jazz music can be heard in the main dining room.
Fish, seafood and rice
The restaurant specialises in rice, fish and seafood and all dishes have fresh ingredients as their base. We shared a goats cheese salad with a tomato and avocado tartar, limpets and a very tender grilled octopus served with potatoes. The fish of the day is local grouper or stone bass.
The rice dishes deserve a special mention, in particular the black rice with cuttlefish (11.50 euros), the creamy rice with crayfish and cockles (12.60) and the rice soup with large red shrimps (19,95). On the other hand the paella with fish and seafood was not as appetising.
After dinner conversation
Mirador Las Salinas has a sufficient variety of wine on the wine list at reasonable prices. For dessert we chose the cheesecake, eggs mole (egg yolks, sugar and cinnamon) and a lemon sorbet ice-cream. The service is pleasant and diligent and the kitchen functions efficiently.
The restaurant has all the right ingredients for you to prolong your after dinner conversation on the terrace with a light breeze and a cocktail, accompanied by a sedating sunset over one of the most symbolic landscapes of Lanzarote.
