‘Wine makes you forget about your worries’ said Hippocrates the famous Greek Physician. His quotations always had something to do with the topics of ‘tapas’, wines and culture. Vino + Lanzarote is located in a pretty area of the Playa Blanca Shopping Centre (Barracuda), situated in the tourist centre of Puerto del Carmen. Its most attractive feature is the terrace, totally sheltered and providing shade, the space is well utilised and it has comfortable furniture.
The menu is small but just right for a simple cuisine and fast service. The ‘salmorejo’ (a purée of tomato and bread originating from Cordoba in the South of Spain), the Russian salad, the roasted peppers or the fried aubergines lightly flavoured with palm honey (5.90 euros) are all classic dishes of this restaurant. You can try an excellent pickled tuna with vegetables, some ‘huevos rotos’ (broken eggs served with Iberian ham or chorizo (10,50 euros) or some superb meatballs made with Iberian pork (6.50 euros).
"Pasa La Vida"
The background music which is flamenco, adds to the atmosphere and goes hand in hand with the tasting of the house wines. A good option is the earthy wines, with a wide selection from Lanzarote, however there are other Spanish wines from different denominations which are a hallmark of Vino + Lanzarote.
The wine tasting experience creates a perfect opportunity for you to try the succulent dishes on offer: tenderloin of pork or Iberian pork fillets (14.80 euros), baby veal chops or cod fillets (16.50 euros) which perfectly compliment the selection of tapas on offer.
The desserts are impressive with their own versions of chocolate brownie and an exquisite lemon panna cotta with blackberry jam.
